MSU students protest Donald Trump Jr’s arrival

By Julian D. Johnson

A nonviolent protest was held by CRU, Culturas de las Razas Unidas, as Donald Trump Jr. visited Michigan State University during the final days of his father’s presidential campaign.

Culturas de las Razas Unidas is a council of racial and ethnic students (CORES) organization that advocates for the Latino/Chicano community at MSU. They organized a  protest that included people from all races to declare their objection and disapproval for the presidential candidate.

Chants echoed through the building that were inclusive to Latinos, blacks, women, and the LGBTQ community.

Donald Trump’s organizers were accused of racial profiling as white people were admitted into the event but Latinos and blacks were not. After being ignored, they had the doors closed and locked in their faces.

Trump supporters who arrived late made several attempts to turn a nonviolent protest into the opposite by pushing and shoving. However, they did not succeed.

Donald Trump Jr. did not speak to any protestors as he left for a rally at Grand Valley State University where he was met with more protests.
